EVOTAR (“Evolution and Transfer of Antibiotic Resistance”) has the overall purpose to increase the collective understanding of the evolution and spread of antibiotic resistance in human pathogens.
The R-GNOSIS project aims at identifying the most effective measures for controlling selection and transmission of Multi-Drug Resistant Gram-negative Bacteria (MDR-GNB) and their genes, the most effective measures to reduce infections caused by MDR-GNB in relevant patient populations in the community and healthcare settings, optimizing treatment and prophylaxis strategies to avoid the detrimental consequences of these bacteria on patient outcome and investigating the critical molecular aspects for persistence and transfer of resistance genes in the human gut.
RISKSUR (Risk based animal health surveillance systems) aims to develop and validate conceptual and decision support frameworks and associated tools for designing efficient risk-based animal health surveillance systems. RISKSUR will develop tools and frameworks targeted at the following surveillance objectives associated with livestock diseases.
The MOLSIG project (Molecular signature of antibiotic resistance in pigs as a potential source of antibiotic resistance for humans) aims to define the molecular signature of antibiotic resistance genes and bacteria present in pig caecal content from different farms correlating it with different farming practices and regions in the UK. It’s coordinated by the AHVLA.
The European Centre of Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) was established in 2005. It is an EU agency with aim to strengthen Europe’s defences against infectious diseases. It is seated in Stockholm, Sweden.
EFSA Europa is the keystone of European Union risk assessment regarding food and feed safety. In close collaboration with national authorities and in open consultation with its stakeholders, EFSA provides independent scientific advice and clear communication on existing and emerging risks. EFSA is an independent European agency funded by the EU budget that operates separately from the European Commission, European Parliament and EU Member States.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and World Health Organization (WHO).
The Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA) is a leading global non-governmental organization fighting to preserve the effectiveness of antimicrobial drugs.
The European Surveillance of Veterinary Antimicrobial Consumption (ESVAC) project collects information on how antimicrobial medicines are used in animals across the European Union. This type of information is essential to identify possible risk factors that could lead to the development and spread of antimicrobial resistance in animals.
The Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE) is an umbrella organisation of veterinary organisations from 38 European countries.
