-Position filled- EFFORT partner Utrecht University is looking for an enthusiastic PhD candidate for the project. At Utrecht University in The Netherlands a position is available for a PhD- student who will be working on the ecology of high prevalent and emerging bacterial plasmids involved in antimicrobial resistance.
As a PhD-student at the the department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology, you will be working on the ecology of high prevalent and emerging bacterial plasmids involved in antimicrobial resistance. The main research objective is to identify prevalent and emerging resistance plasmids, perform functional genomics on the plasmids and to study the interaction of the plasmids with the bacterial host. The focus will be on various molecular methods for plasmid characterization and the use of cloning techniques to study the function of different plasmid structures. The candidate will publish the findings as papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. These papers will form the basis of the PhD thesis.
The work will be performed in close collaboration with the Central Veterinary Institute of Wageningen UR (CVI).
