EFFORT Partner, DTU is currently developing an online EFFORT training course on the use of metagenomics for AMR surveillance. Topics to be addressed include: introduction on metagenomics; processing of samples (actual sampling, DNA and RNA extraction methods and sequencing); analysis of data (bioinformatic analysis) and results quality assurance, interpretation and applications.
The current schedule predicts having the materials ready by the end of this year/early 2018.
In a combined learning style, participants that will use these online materials, will then be invited to attend a workshop, that EFFORT Partner SAFOSO is organizing, to be delivered in Estonia, March 2018, back to back with the SVEPM meeting.
The workshop will provide hands-on training in the design and optimization of surveillance.
The target group for the workshop are therefore MS competent authorities responsible for AMR surveillance, including veterinary services, food safety authorities and reference laboratories.
Interested stakeholders are already invited to save the dates of this workshop (March 19-20, 2018).
Further updates regarding the release of the online materials will be done via the project dissemination channels (newsletter, LinkedIn group and Twitter).
